Meet Lanya Elsa, PhD
Better systems begin with better understanding.
Author • Speaker • Researcher • Consultant
I believe better systems begin with better understanding. My work helps people and organizations uncover the stories, insights, and perspectives that lead to more human-centered decisions and lasting change.
*You may still come across past work and publications under the name Lanya McKittrick—that’s still me.
What if every conversation is an opportunity to see the world a little differently than we did the day before?
That's the question that has quietly guided much of my life.
Over the past twenty-five years, my work has taken me into classrooms, healthcare systems, research, public policy, and communities across the country. Along the way, I've come to believe that our most complex challenges are rarely solved by expertise alone. They are solved when we're willing to listen deeply, question our assumptions, and understand the stories behind the people we serve.
Today, I write, speak, consult, and conduct research that helps people and organizations think differently about complex human challenges. Through storytelling, qualitative research, and systems thinking, I help uncover new perspectives that strengthen relationships, inspire innovation, and create more human-centered solutions.
Whether you're here as a reader, educator, leader, policymaker, researcher, or parent, I hope you'll find ideas that invite you to see the world—and perhaps yourself—a little differently.
